Discovering the typical sceneries and flavours of Etna .. If you are visiting Sicily for the first time, you cannot miss a trip to Etna! The highest active volcano in Europe, with its 3340 meters in height, is a must for nature lovers and is one of the most surprising experiences to live on this beautiful island. During the morning we will go to the volcano and discover its landscapes by walking along the edge of ancient extinct craters, walking among ancient lava flows and reaching panoramic points with breathtaking views. We will then head to a historic refuge on the slopes of the volcano, located at an altitude of 1900 m, where you can relax comfortably while enjoying a hot chocolate inside one of the ancient chalets, admiring the beautiful scenery that only Etna can offer us. This is where the historic "Etna cableway" is located. Rebuilt several times following the various lava eruptions that have affected it over the years, it allows visitors to reach an altitude of 2500 m. Upon returning, we will stop at a local winery located on the eastern side of the volcano where you will experience the wine tasting experience. Accompanied by qualified personnel, you will first visit the vineyard and then the barrel cellar. The excursion on Etna by off-road vehicle is an exciting journey through lunar landscapes, ancient woods and lava flows that tell the story of the ancestral force of the highest and most active volcano in Europe, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Starting from the north side, we will reach the historic flow of 1923 that reached the town of Linguaglossa, crossing a suggestive off-road route between expanses of black lava, flowering brooms and the remains of ancient rural settlements, such as an old palmento once used for winemaking. We will then continue through chestnut groves and oaks until we reach the lava front of the 2002 eruption, one of the most violent of the last hundred years, which left impressive marks on the landscape. The excursion continues along the panoramic Mareneve road to Piano Provenzana, at 1,800 meters above sea level, where after a short stop for a coffee we will visit the remains of the Le Betulle hotel, a symbol of the destructive force of nature.
